Meet Krystle

Relaxing in Paradise

Aloha! I’m Krystle. I am a mermaid at heart, a sliiiight adrenaline junkie, and I suffer from a serious case of Wanderlust. Back in 2011, I created Pictures and Plane Tickets as a place to document my adventures around the world and I’ve been crossing off my Bucket List one destination at a time ever since. I’m not only obsessed with traveling–I also love scuba diving, photography, and the dreamy islands in the South Pacific. I strive to live life with a grateful heart and find adventure in every day.

When you get to know me you’ll realize that I’m always planning my next adventure: from exploring the islands in the South Pacific, to swimming with Caribbean Reef sharks in the Bahamas, from skydiving over the beautiful island of Kauai, to ziplining on the slopes of a dormant volcano, and island hopping in Thailand; there’s always some kind of adventure on my globe-trotting horizon. I have been incredibly fortunate to experience some of the most amazing places on Earth and I have no plans of stopping anytime soon. So throw caution to the wind, and let’s go on an adventure!

  1. Thank you for visiting our site. People like you are exactly what inspired my wife and I to drop everything, and start an adventure. Wish you the best.

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog and hitting like in one of my post. I do love nature adventure. Trying to catch up with the “lost time.”

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I loved my time in Canada and British Columbia looks so beautiful! Hoping to make it up there someday. 🙂
      Have a great day!

  3. Hi Krystle,
It’s so crazy, we have so much in common. I also did/am doing the 101 goals in 1001 days challenge. And tons of stuff on your bucket list are also on mine! Btw: so jealous of your skydiving adventure on Hawaii. That is so awesome!
    xxxx Dina

    1. Hi Dina,
I love it! 🙂 It’s so neat that we have so much in common. Hope your 1001 challenge is going well. For my second round it’s going a little slower than the first, but I have over a year left and about half of my goals left. I can do it! 🙂
If you ever go skydiving, I would completely recommend Skydive Kauai. They were so awesome, I really want to do it again.
      Thanks for stopping by.
      Have a great day!

  4. Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Given I started only yesterday, that felt extremely encouraging 🙂 Love the sunny feel your blog exudes. Looking forward to more posts about your adventures. Have a good day 🙂

    1. Hey! Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate it! 🙂 I like that our blog names are somewhat similar… at least that it involves planes! 🙂 Super cool.

    1. Mahalo Auntie Doni! That is so kind of you!! I am so happy to have you here and am glad that you are one of my regular readers. Love hearing about your stories from Hawaii when you share! 🙂 Have a great Monday!

  6. Thanks for stopping by and liking my latest blog post. Hope you enjoyed reading the blog. I’ll be following your adventures too 🙂

  7. Hi! Thanks for leaving a like on my page:)
I also dream of traveling the world! I dream of studying abroad and such.

  8. Thank you for “liking” my blog–SewMeHawaii. You might be really interested in Bucket List Publications blog. Leslie sounds exactly like you. She is also an adrenalin junkie. Have fun with all of your adventures.

    1. Hi!
That is funny you mention that because I have read Leslie’s blog for a while now and really enjoy it. It definitely seems that we are kindred spirits as adrenaline junkies 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day.

  9. Hi Krystle, Thank you for liking my post. I really like your blog as this is of my first interest. Being from India, gives little chance for me travel freely unless I am moderately rich to afford. A blog like your gives me immense pleasure of being there irrespective of the fact whether I can make it or not. I am travel dreamer trying hard to strike off each of them from my bucket list…..Cheers! A Happy New Year in advance.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I’m happy to hear that you like the blog. One of my best friends just got home from India and absolutely loved it. I’m a travel daydreamer as well, and I just can’t kick that travel bug… Although I admit, I don’t really mind. 😉 Happy New Year to you as well! Cheers!

  10. Thank you for stopping by and liking my blog post. We both have a love for travel and I often describe myself to people as having “wanderlust”. I look forward to reading more. Since I’m in my seventh decade, I don’t choose to do things that give an adrenaline rush, but I can appreciate you younguns’ doing so.

    1. Hello Irene,
Thank you for your comment. I don’t know if there is a cure for “wanderlust” and I’m quite happy about that. 🙂 It’s a never-ending cycle, just when I cross off one item on my bucket list, I end up adding another three or four. I hope to get all the “young and dumb” things out of my system before I settle down and have a family. 🙂 We will see how that works out.
      Have a fabulous day!

  11. Thanks for the like of Gre(y)ek Da(ys)ze, tomorrow is St Nicholas day, I hope he leaves some nice travel surprises in your shoes, well in your case probably in your flip-flops. For our travel gifts, we look for electronic and online books, online travel support like traveling mailbox.

  12. Hi Krystle,
Thanks for reading and liking my blog posts about walking the Camino de Santiago – it’s great to have you on board.
Your blog looks great too and I look forward to reading more in the near future. I’ve spent some time in Thailand and my main piece of advice is – EAT! The food was truly stunning – so, so fresh and bursting with flavour. I’d go back for the food alone.
And drinking coconut juice straight from the coconut is one of life’s sweetest pleaures 🙂

    1. Geraldine,
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to all of the delicious food in Thailand, and am also excited to see the Grand Palace. When we stop on Koh Tao I will look for a coconut. 🙂
      Have a great day!

    1. Hetta, Thanks for stopping by. We have not been to South Africa but it is on my list. 🙂 I would love to go down and see the Great Whites, they are incredible. Where’s your favorite place that you have traveled?

  13. Hi Krystle, Thank you for liking my post and checking out my blog. We are settled in Australia at the moment but I still have a list a yard long to visit, including South America, the South Pole and climbing up Mount Everest as far as I can. Time is not enough. And I have to win Lotto quickly. I loved reading your blog – and it has again stirred the passion to travel more.

    1. Hi Kris,
Thanks for stopping! I’m happy to have you here. All of those destinations sound incredible. Anywhere specific in South America? I need to win the lottery one of these days as well, hopefully sooner than later! 🙂 Have a great day!

  14. Krystle, one of my authors seeks permission. His series, Miracle In Page, could use your aerial image of the lake on its cover. If you’ll kindly reply here, we’ll arrange a free book for you later, whether we use your photo or not. /John, Abe Lincoln Book Publishing

    1. John,
I just saw your comment hidden within my spam folder. I am so incredibly sorry about the delay in my response. The picture you are referring to was found on Google Images. It is not my photo. I try to provide photo credit to all borrowed photos. Good luck. I will have to search out this book as I LOVE Lake Powell. Cheers.

  15. Hi Krystle and thank you for the ‘like’. Do not ever lose that sense of adventure. The world is much bigger than I ever imagined and I will never get to all the places I want to see.

Come by the blog again anytime. The welcome mat is always out!

    1. Thank you Selina!
Good luck in your adventures throughout life! 🙂 You are in an exciting time in your life and Frank Sinatra said it best when he said, “The Best is Yet to Come.”

  16. Thank you for your follow (late but did get back to you) I sure wish I could have been you when I was your age, you go girl embrace life and see it all. Wish you well with your bucket list (great list) and I am sure you will come up with more. Happy Camping

    1. Hey SmokeyCamping! 🙂
Thanks for dropping by! I appreciate your kind words. Life is too short, I want to see it all while I can (or at least try to see it all). Have a fabulous day! 🙂

    1. Hi Polianthus!
Thank you! While we’ve managed to visit quite a few places, my list continues to grow! 🙂 Do you have a favorite place that you’ve traveled?

      1. Hi Krystle
lists always grow, isn’t that wonderful though. Favourite places I have traveled -favourite wide open spaces: Mongolia, wide open spaces, and forest: Siberia, food, architecture and wide open spaces: Szechuan area of China, tropical island paradise: Grenada – those are the far away places, then there are plenty closer to home that are wonderful too: Bresse in France, Turkey, best Island close by with great food: Sardinia, favorite architecture: Lisbon and beautiful city – all the above are favourites for different reasons 🙂 , Kerala is also beautiful as of course are many landscapes in the US

  17. I love your life philosophy, I am much the same – trying to see as much as I can – so much to see! I look forward to following your adventures.

  18. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Hubs and I haven’t done much travel abroad (although we hope to someday) but are rather exploring the areas we are living in as well as visiting family around the country. I look forward to reading more of your adventures!

    1. Thanks C.Skinner! 🙂 I admit, my husband and I should do more traveling around our neck of the woods as well! I’m hoping to stop by the Grand Canyon and some of the other awesome parks within the state this fall and next spring… we will see if it pans out. Have a great week!

  20. Hi Krystle,
Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my photos of the corals. I like the photos you have for your bucket list. I’d LOVE to go swimming with the whale sharks! I’m like you, I always feel like there’re so many places to see and never enough time (or money) to see them all. I’m still trying and I see you are too. Here’s good luck to the both of us on completing our bucket lists. 😉

    1. Capt Jill, thanks for checking out my bucket list. When I cross off one item I find myself adding two or three more to replace it. Isn’t it addicting? 🙂 It’s a fun hobby to have. Good luck on your bucket list!

  21. Thanks for following my blog Krystle! Don’t forget South East Asia. There’s a saying where I’m from: “It’s more fun in the Philippines!” Love your pics and your travels! 🙂

      1. Palawan is a long stretch of island on the west coast. It’s got a lot of tiny islands surrounding it. The reefs are awesome around the area as well. Manila is awesome…just go with someone who knows what to do and where to go lol. Stop by Hong Kong on the way or maybe Tokyo. Both places are like Manhattan on steroids! Be safe! 🙂

  22. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I am glad I found you site as a result. I, like yourself love to travel. I have been in a 50 states, Mexico, and Canada. I hope to travel more in the future. I will be watching your site.

  23. Hey Krystle
Thanks so much for the ‘like’ on my blog….Really kind of you..
My motto…..’The next trip is the best trip’
I’ve had the wanderlust longer than I can remember and it never wears off…Enjoy yours.

  24. Hi! Thanks for liking the blog post! I like your photos a lot and they are very inspiring. Will surely be checking out where you will go next. Have fun planning and making it all happen!

  25. Thanks so much you liking my blog post. We have a lot in common! Just give me a beach, ocean, and sunshine. That’s all I really need. But the quest to find the perfect beach is all- consuming. I hope you continue to enjoy my entires as I will enjoy following your adventures.

    1. Wow! Such an honor, John. Thank you. I’m currently in las Vegas and hope to continue on with this tradition just as soon as I can get my computer charged 🙂 thank you again. You and the rest of my readers are what make blogging fun! Have a great evening!

  26. Hi, Krystle! Thanks for the like and comment on my blog. I just read that you are considering St. John (USVI?) for an upcoming trip. Hubby and I spent a week there for our anniversary a few years ago. It is one of our most favorite travel experiences. Two suggestions: 1) Definitely go to Trunk Bay – just avoid the main part of the day (10am – 3pm) because it can get crowded; and 2) snorkel Waterlemon Cay – absolutely not to be missed. By the way, we saw sea turtles almost every time we got in the water. (We were there in June.) Love your blog!

  27. I totally agree with you that there are too many places to visit and not near enough time to explore those places. And the more we travel, the more it feels that way and the longer our bucket lists get. I look forward to reading more about your journeys and seeing your photos!

  28. So glad you stopped by my site! Your bucket list looks great. As the years go by and you work through the list you’ll notice it gets longer and longer. 🙂 I don’t think there’s any place I wouldn’t go, it just may not be at the top of the list. The map is a great idea. I may steal that one. I haven’t done much in the Caribbean, but if you have questions about other places I’d be happy to share my experiences.
    Jennifer

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I agree that as I cross one destination off the bucket list, I find myself adding three more in it’s place. 😉 Where’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled to?

      1. I don’t know that I have a favorite. I’ve visited something close to 30 countries and there’s a new experience with each place. That being said, if I could have a tiny little apartment on a narrow cobblestoned alley I would choose Rome, something like an occasional second home. Boy, I’m a dreamer! 🙂

  29. Thanks for the support! I fell in love with your blog right away. I’m a road warrior myself… work has my traveling frequently, but rarely to any tropical places. I guess the good news is I’ve learned where some fantastic restaurants are throughout the Midwest, all thanks to rarely being home! Looking forward to reading all about your travels!

  30. Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog! Sounds like you have a lot of traveling ahead of you! My husband and I enjoy travel also…we’re always on the hunt for great ideas. We love beaches, mountains, road trips, luxurious travel, first class whenever possible, and RVing, pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum! Well, it’s all fun, isn’t it? I’ll look forward to seeing where you’re headed next! ~ Sheila

  31. Thanks for stopping by my site and hitting the like button. I am glad I found your site as a result of that and I look forward to your entries. I have been fortunate to have been to many of the places on your bucket list and would be glad to help with any advice or thoughts when you make it that way. Have a great day!
