Island Time

Heyyyyyyy!!! Remember me? It’s your friend Krystle over at Pictures and Plane Tickets. I have neglected my little corner of the internet over the last two months–and to be honest, I can’t believe my last blog post was that long ago. Instead of hashing out the reason why my sweet little blog has been pushed to the back burner, I will just say that life has been hectic. That happens to the best of us sometimes, right?

Looking ahead, I have a few short weeks before I head out on my next vacation. I am incredibly excited to bring you my island hopping adventures to one of my most favorite destinations. This trip couldn’t have come at a better time and I’m hoping that the Aloha spirit will help to rejuvenate me and refocus my mind.

Our itinerary includes a lot of fun on the Big Island and blissful relaxation on Kauai. Of course a trip would not be complete without crossing off a few more bucket list items:

Kilauea Volcano

Manta Rays

Have you been to the Big Island? I would love to hear your suggestions on favorite beaches, the best things to do, and your favorite restaurants… I’ll be waiting 🙂

There’s an ~11 mile walk (or jog) around the volcano. You walk through old lava fields then rainforest – it’s magical.

Thanks for the information! I remember reading about this hike in the Big Island revealed book. I will go read about it again and see if we can fit it in 🙂 Have a great day!

I hope I can go back to the Big Island and see some actual lava this time — better planning next time. Enjoy your trip!! 🙂

      Hi Reenski,
We went on a helicopter tour to see the active lava flow and it was amazing. Of course, the lava isn’t flowing as much as it has in the past, but to be able to see that bright red glowing color is incredible. Hope you get back there soon 🙂
