Around the World

It was an early morning in May when my mom received a text message with a random web address and the words “check out this website, we love and miss you.” After she typed in the web address she saw her kids half way around the world smiling for the camera.

While researching for our trip, I came across webcams located throughout the western ports in Norway. So, I made a mental note of their location and thought it would be fun to include my mom on our journey.

Some of the photos were blurry, one was a live webcam and she only saw half of our group, the other camera failed and was stuck on one image for the entire day–so it didn’t work out exactly as planned. Regardless of the poor photo quality, it was neat for my mom to see where her kids were at that day, and it was fun for us to reach out to a friendly face back home just to say hi.

Have you ever used public webcams to say Hi to someone back home?

I did the exact same thing in Waikiki Beach with my son. We were texting and he was watching the web cam. Snapped a picture for me to have… very cool indeed!

I’ll have to try that the next time we are in Hawaii. 🙂

Thought of doing that, but haven’t yet. Good idea.
