Lava Rock Meets Water

My husband took this photo at Wai’anapapa State Park on the east side of Maui. It was our first time visiting a black sand beach and it was beautiful. The surf was much too rough for swimming that day, so we decided to lounge on the beach, soak up the sun, and listen to the waves crash ashore.

The photo below captures the moment perfectly. I love how you can see the individual grains of sand and water droplets. The beautiful beach that we were enjoying was created because of the rough surf that was continuously pummeling the lava rock around us. This is Mother Nature at her finest.
